Eric Scott Leathers, LLC is seeking a Jr. Technical Pattern/Sample Maker.

Who are you:
You are a skilled pattern maker in the soft-goods industry, with a background in sewing and construction methods. You have computer skills with an emphasis in AutoCAD, and other software drawing programs and are knowledgeable in creating prototypes from 2D drawings. You possess a willingness to experiment and have strong problem-solving skills in addition to being highly organized and an effective communicator, both verbal and written. If you have experience in leather that is a plus!
The scope of the Jr. Technical Pattern/Sample Maker is to assist in developing high-quality patterns for soft goods through technical coordination and the physical construction of new product development and existing products.
Responsibilities include the following:
- Create and modify digital and physical patterns for soft goods using CAD software or by hand.
- Assist in developing prototypes and ensuring patterns meet design specifications and production feasibility.
- Collaborate with customers, design, product development, and engineering teams to refine patterns for functionality, efficiency and feasibility in production.
- Work with various materials ensuring patterns are optimized for production.
- Research products, trends, and materials and how they will be used to create best design options.
- Work with internal team to determine whether design concepts can be produced at a reasonable cost.
- Evaluate product safety, appearance, and function.
- Identify and recommend alternatives to resolve issues and support the product team to meet the design and engineering approval date as per the product timelines.
- Develop patterns and assembly instructions and processes for new products.
- Suggest construction methods and product improvements.
- Develop preliminary BOM and routings for initial samples and verify final BOM and routing; includes visual routings when necessary.
- Create accurate physical representations of a design through the use of cutting, stitching, and a variety of assembly equipment.
- Modify and revise technical and physical designs to correct operating deficiencies or to reduce production problems and work with manufacturing to establish and document best practices.
- Operate and maintain all sample/production equipment including cutting and stitching equipment.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in fashion design or related field or equivalent experience
- Experience in creating prototypes and samples (experience in leather/durable soft goods is a plus)
- Experience with various sewing equipment
- Technical sewing experience with heavy duty materials and functional products
- Computer skills: Illustrator, Photoshop, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and other software drawing programs
- Oral, written and interpersonal skills
- Effective analytical, problem-solving skills, and high attention to details
